Frequently asked questions.

How long does it take to get my photos?

For a standard portrait session, turnaround time is about 3 weeks for the initial gallery of edited images. Retouching can take up to 3-4 additional days.

How do I receive my photos?

I’ll send you a link and password to a digital gallery where you can download them.

What is the difference between editing and retouching?

Editing includes adjustments to exposure, contrast, coloring and the general feel of the image, similar to developing that was done manually in the darkroom back in the day. Retouching is the process of removing blemishes, skin, or hair detail that is unwanted. If necessary, you will select a certain number of sessions to be retouched depending on the session you booked.

Do you photograph weddings?

Only small elopements, but no big weddings at this time.

How do I choose a location?

We can talk about this on our initial consultation call. I have a list of location I use that are best for different times of day and seasons. Most locations within 45 minutes of Denver are available for most sessions. I also shoot in other locations (i.e. ski areas) for an additional fee.

Is the deposit refundable?

Yes. If you are rescheduling, it will get applied to the rescheduled appointment. For cancellations (without reschedule) within one week of the shoot, the deposit is non-refundable.

How and when do I pay the balance?

I will send you an invoice after our photoshoot for you to pay the balance via credit card.

Do I have to pay for the digital files separately?

No, my pricing is “all-inclusive”, meaning that the photoshoot and digital images are included in the price you see.

How many outfits can I bring?

For family and group photos, I’d suggest one or two max because changing can consume a lot of time. For individual portraits, bring all the outfits you’d like and we’ll squeeze in as many as we can within the allotted session time. If booking a 30 minute package, this is usually best for only one outfit.

Where do I change outfits?

Depending on the location there may be a restroom, but you may have to change in your car if that is unavailable.

Can I bring my dog to my session?

Yes, but I ask that you bring an additional person to help manage the dog. Each dog has a different “window of opportunity” before they lose interest and become a huge distraction.

Can I bring a friend or family member to my session?

Yes! I’m all for having your team with you.

Do you travel outside of the Ithaca area?

Yes, but there is an additional fee and my availability is limited. We can discuss this during our initial consultation.

What equipment do you use?

As of Spring 2025 I currently own a Sony A9, and my go-to portrait lenses are the Sony 35mm f/1.4 GM, Sony f/1.4 50mm GM and Sigma 85mm f/1.4. For travel photography I use the Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II and Sony 70-200 f/4.
